Alexa Chung for Madewell

The uber stylish and whimsical Alexa Chung launches her collection for Madewell today. I remember getting excited about the collaboration when I read an interview Chung had done late Spring. She teased the world with tidbits of the pieces to come; chunky knits, silk, autumnal hues, overalls. I must say, she hasn’t let me down. The pieces are strong and classic in the camel coat and long silk skirt with a kick of girly nostalgia in the coverall shorts and sheer polka dot blouse. Above are some of my favorite pieces from the collection.

Date Night with Alex Grant: The Cider House Rules

For part II of Date Night with Alex Grant: The Cider House Rules we have Charlize Theron’s nautically inclined wardrobe. I love the casual and masculine silhouettes that she wore, including bulky cable knit sweaters, over-sized oxford shirts and beat-up denim. I wanted to convey that genuine New England style here in this outfit by choosing the mens’ sweater from Rogues Gallery, unfitted denim and broken-in boots. But don’t forget to recreate Charlize’s soft curls, they maintain the perfect balance between a masculine outfit and a feminine face.

Rogues Gallery Cable Crew Sweater, Boutique 9 Elation Boots, Madewell 1937 City Slouch Jeans and J.Crew Vintage Bateau Top
