Hickorees restocked their store with some new Folk pieces. If you’re unfamiliar with Folk, it was founded in 2001 by Cathal McAteer. The goal was to create wearable pieces with details that stood out including colorful patches and unique patterns. On the brand’s website they describe their vision as: “creating simple everyday clothing with subtle, innovative and sometimes playful detailing”. Their Block Print shirt is certainly a product of that vision. Always a fan of chambray, this shirt features a variety of rich indigo hues. I was immediately drawn to the quirky shapes and pattern, which oddly enough remind me of Alexander Calder’s mobiles. It’s a work of art in its own rite (whether it reminds you of actual art or not) with the fine craftsmanship and ingenuity of the design.
