The Penfield’s F/W 2011 lookbook that I helped this past Spring is now live! It was an amazing project to work on. Skip Brooks of Alex Grant helped was also a stylist and Fred Castleberry of Unabashedly Prep was our amazing photographer. Our locations were Rockport on the North Shore then back down through Cambridge and Boston. Andrew Ray of One Man’s Style came by during our day in Boston and took some awesome behind the scenes shots for us. Our models Neal and Madeline were fantastic and made the weekend so much fun. A special thanks to Skip, Fred, Madeline, Neal, and Andy, to the Penfield team, and of course to Steve Dool and the folks at BPMW.

Skip Brooks of Alex Grant (also my partner for the Date Night series) has designed a bow tie for The Style Cooperative. The Alex Grant Bow Tie, inspired by “sailing and boat shoes”, is the perfect addition to any New England gentleman’s wardrobe. Head over to Alex Grant to read more and to see the full lookbook, beautifully shot by Eric.
The third N’East Style Couple is Skip from Alex Grant and his beautiful wife Tisha. Skip has been a fabulous supporter of N’East Style since its launch a couple months back and I have had so much fun collaborating with him for our Date Night series. Tisha and Skip lived outside of Boston while earning their PhDs, Masters and law degrees at Harvard, Tufts and Boston College (honestly, I don’t think this power couple sleeps) before moving down to Delaware where they now live with their two adorable children. This photo was taken when Tisha was 6 months pregant with their son, Alex, and she is simply glowing! Skip is sporting a Black Dog hat, J.Crew T, Polo shorts and classic Jack Purcells and Tisha is wearing a J. Crew cardigan, Ann Taylor shirt, Gap pants and Kate Spade flats. Match made in N’East heaven.
PS Stay tuned for this evening’s Date Night with Alex Grant!!!
We all know that Friday and Saturday nights are often labeled as “date nights”. For some people, this means getting dolled up and hitting the clubs or dinner at an expensive restaurant. For me, it means a good bottle of wine or micro brew, stirring up a delicious meal in our tiny kitchen in the South End of Boston, and throwing in a classic film (be it Glory or Barefoot in the Park).
While chatting with Skip (the creator of the first-class style blog Alex Grant – a must read), he came up with the brilliant idea of recreating the styles from these movies in a “date night” series, to be posted here on N’East Style. Thanks to Skip’s cleverness, I am thrilled to welcome you to the first installment of the series with Breakfast at Tiffany’s, a natural choice for its unforgettable New York style. Here, Skip has used his keen sense of style to pick out the key pieces that embody George Peppard’s character Paul. The results? A clean, modern and unforgettable look.
PS Stay tuned for Part II, Audrey Hepburn’s look to be posted tomorrow here on N’East Style, by yours truly.
