We discovered the village of Bonnieux in Provence France through family friends Paul and Sharon Mrozinski. The architect and designer run a charming Bed & Breakfast/Antique shop in Wiscasset, ME as well as several properties for rent in France, all under the name The Marston House. They spend half the year in France, travelling and buying antique textiles and furniture for their own shop, properties, and for designers, architects, shop owners, and more who rely on their keen eye. When we saw the photos of their flats in France, we knew we had to stay at one of them for our honeymoon. As you can see from my photos (and those on their website), the studio apartment we decided to rent is the perfect haven for a relaxing trip. We stayed a full week and enjoyed the studio so much that we found ourselves spending many afternoons and evenings laying about reading, cooking, and drinking wine instead of hitting the road for more sight seeing. This is surely a sign of an excellent vacation of relaxation. The village itself was beyond picturesque. Perched on a hilltop with a ceder forest and ancient church at its peak, the views out to the Luberon valley and neighboring ancient villages are spectacular. As we walked up and down the village (through small alleys and tiny hidden staircases) and took in the views, we had to keep pinching ourselves that we weren’t dreaming. I would highly recommend staying at one of the Mrozinski’s flats in Bonnieux if you are looking for a wonderfully easy holiday.
