London

My husband and I returned from our two week “elopement”/honeymoon this past weekend! We had a wonderful time in England the week of our ceremony, followed by a relaxing honeymoon week in the Luberon Valley of France. I’m sharing some highlights from our holiday here on the blog, because a trip like this was just too good not to share! First up is my favorite city, London.

The two images above are of the amazing house off Hyde Park Place we were invited to stay at during our brief stay in London. It was the perfect location for two days of running around the city trying to take in as much as possible. It was Teddy’s first time to the UK and as a Landscape Architect, he was eager to see the architecture and gardens of the city – which led to walking from dawn till dusk.

We did have time to have two simple, but delicious meals. Our first night we sat down to salt and pepper squid, fish and chips, and grilled duck breast at Duke of Kendal, a very British pub in Connaught Village just up the street from our house. The next day we stumbled upon The Grazing Goat in Portman Village for breakfast. I had heard about the hotel and public house when coordinating our trip and was going to get us a room there before our family friends invited us to stay in their home. I was thrilled we had a chance to check out the dining area. We relished warm cappuccinos (possibly the best I’ve ever had) and feasted on a hearty breakfast of scrambled eggs with truffle oil and London Cure smoked salmon. Another memorable meal was some meat pies from Harrod’s (here’s a tip, show up a bit before closing and they discount most of their daily sweet and savory baked goods).

Of course, it wouldn’t have been a complete trip without a couple mementos. Teddy picked up a shawl collar cardigan from Drake’s of London and I finally got the pair of R.M. Williams boots I’ve been coveting for years.
