Whenever we make the trip home to VT, my fiance and I like to take a hike or stroll up at Merck Forest & Farmland Center located in Pawlet. We wonder at our surroundings of rolling green mountains, open fields, and the intricacies of a working farm. The center, a non-profit environmental education organization, is 3,160 acres of farmland and forest in the Taconic Mountains. Cabins dot the mountainside which you can rent for a night or two and hike up to. This trip was the first time we went around the farm and said hello to the friendly animals including some rather sleepy pigs, handsome work horses, and fluffy sheep.

Hey Christine! It’s Emily Wilson… from Dorset! I found your blog a little while ago through a different blog, I can’t remember which, and it’s been fun to see your great illustrations and work. I love seeing photos of Merck, I haven’t been there in so long even though it’s literally right down the road from home, I’ll have to make it a point to get there next time I’m back in Vermont. Hope you are well!
