form function form

I’m excited to be reviewing some amazing products from form function form along with a bevy of friends and fellow bloggers. Inspired by the famous quote of Louis Sullivan (mentor to Frank Lloyd Wright), “form follows function”, founder and artisan Shawn Reed simplified it to create a complete cyclical concept. These two elements equally dictate the design and aesthetic of Shawn’s work. His pieces are not only functional and durably made in the USA (with the finest Horween leather and skilled craftsmanship), they are beautiful in form.

It was really fun to be able to work with Shawn to create a custom bracelet from his designs. The lure bracelet instantly caught my eye having grown up in a fishing community and now with a fiance who is an avid fly fisherman. I wanted to give the bracelet a bit of a hunting/fishing theme by having the cord blaze orange. The result was exactly what I had hoped for with a silvery fish paired with the blaze. The Eagle Claw hook closure completes the concept and  was quite easy to fasten and unfasten on my own. Shawn was very kind and sent me a second bracelet, the Bow Shackle, with my second color choice hunter green. It has turned out to be an equal favorite for me with the closure’s nod to closure to an authentic, yacht-quality bow shackle.

It was an honor to be asked to join the ranks of Jeremiah Simmons of A Headlong Dive for the Sartorial et al. Part II and represent the female voice amongst a great group of friends. Thanks to both Jeremiah and Shawn!

*Apologies for the tint of the photos. My iPhone 4 is not quite equal to my camera (which is currently in need of repairs).
