L.L. Bean Signature: Duck Hunting Coat

The winter collection from L.L. Bean Signature is now available and there are some fantastic archival pieces. My favorite is the Duck Hunting Coat. Debuted in L.L. Bean’s 1929 catalogue, this classic coat invokes so many nostalgiac images and memories of stylish men and their winter coats; Paul Newman in his duck hunting jacket, fathers at their sons’ football games, Ryan O’Neil in Love Story, your grandfather and the smell of his fur collar when you hug him. The folks of L.L. Bean Signature somehow managed to fit the all these memories and the culture and style of a New England winter in this one coat. And if this coat worked for your father, grandfather, and great-grandfather . . .  it’ll certainly work for you and your sons.
